So, other than shimmering skyscrapers and sleek supercars, what else is there to see and do in the tourist hotspot of Dubai? Plenty! And this is probably the main reason for Dubai’s popularity as a holiday destination – there is an ever-growing range of attractions on offer for visitors of all ages…
Here are my top 5 must see Dubai attractions:
Head to the Creek to get an authentic taste of ‘old’ Dubai… be sure to take an abra (a motorised water taxi) across the Creek for only 1 Dirham and travel like the locals. This is a great value experience in an otherwise fairly pricey holiday destination!
Arabian Adventures Sundowner Dune Dinner Safari
Start your adventure with a white-knuckle, 4×4 journey across the endless sand dunes, then take a camel ride as the sun starts to set over the dessert. After all that excitement, kick back and enjoy a fantastic Arabic meal under the stars in a Bedouin-style camp – complete with traditional entertainment. This is definitely a trip not to be missed!
One of Dubai’s main attractions is the fantastic range of shopping available… from the designer boutiques of City Walk to the spectacular Dubai Mall through to the traditional souks (spice, gold, etc) – Dubai has everything you could want and more!
Wild Wadi Water Park
Take the plunge at Dubai’s oldest water park, Wild Wadi. It may be the original water park but it is still one of the best in town with 30 rides of varying extremes! It’s also a great place to cool off from the often oppressive Dubai heat.
If you like theme parks, Dubai has some great options… Legoland, Bollywood (inspired by Mumbai’s film industry) or Motiongate (Dubai’s take on Hollywood) or, if you fancy going a little further afield, why not check out Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi and ride the rollercoaster with the world’s highest loop?
Dubai may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I love it! It offers luxury, fun and so much to see and do in a relatively compact area… not to mention fantastic places to stay and year-round sunshine! What’s not to love??
