I took a number of trips in 2017 – some were short breaks and some week-long holidays as a couple, as a family, or with friends… not to mention too many day trips to remember! What’s more, I really enjoyed them all!
My first holiday of the year was in February when I visited Club La Santa in Lanzarote for a week of exercise in the sunshine! It was a welcome break from the cold, miserable British weather! I can highly recommend the resort if you like sport – the facilities are absolutely fantastic! (Read more about it here: An Active Week at Club La Santa, Lanzarote)
Our next trip was to Belle Plagne, France in April for a week of skiing with friends and family. The resort was great, the views from our apartment were beautiful and we had a great week of skiing (and eating and drinking of course!). You can read about the trip here: Family Ski Trip to Belle Plagne
It was towards the end of April 2017 that I decided I needed to do something with the many notebooks and thousands of photos documenting my travels over many years… so Kate Loves Travel was born!
In May I went on a mid-week break to London. I visited several of London’s great markets and plenty of museums, restaurants and bars… I love London – there is so much to see and do and it is very easy to travel around. My posts are available here: A few days in London and A Few of My Favourite London Markets
My next break was a few child-free nights in Stratford-upon-Avon in July with my hubby. We stayed at the centrally located Crowne Plaza and did the ‘Shakespeare thing’. Stratford-upon-Avon is a lovely place to spend a few days – most of the attractions are within walking distance of each other and there are lots of nice restaurants and bars, although it can get quite busy in summer. We took our main family holiday in August, spending 6 days in a well-equipped lodge at Disneyland Paris. I love Disney but had never visited Disneyland Paris before – we loved it and it is so much easier to get to than Disneyworld, Florida. It is obviously much smaller, but we still had an amazing time – great rides and a fun Disney atmosphere! We didn’t go away in September, but I did attend the first National Geographic Traveller Festival in London and it was brilliant! There were lots of inspiring talks and workshops, as well as cultural displays and yummy food and drink – all included in the ticket price too. I will definitely be going again next year… If you think you might be interested in going, then check out my review here: Review of the National Geographic Traveller Festival 2017
The last quarter of the year was largely taken up with Freya’s swimming, so travel was not really on the cards unfortunately. But it did give me plenty of time to plan our trips for next year so I can’t complain too much!
I was very lucky in 2017 and had plenty of opportunity to travel. My plans for next year so far include a road trip round Iceland, a week at Center Parcs in the Lake District and 5 days in New York… so bring on 2018 and all the new opportunities it may have to offer!
Happy Travelling & Best Wishes for 2018!
