Review: Aqua Sana Spa, Sherwood Forest

We had a few child-free days this week, so decided to make the most of it and book a spa… we chose the Aqua Sana Spa at Sherwood Forest due to the amount of experiences it offered and the availability of a spa with afternoon tea – let’s face it, who could resist such a combination?

Aqua Sana, Sherwood Forest

The check-in was fast and efficient and we were soon robed up and ready to try out the many spa experiences… there are various steam rooms and saunas, outdoor hot tubs, reflexology foot-baths, a pool, lots of chill-out areas and a lovely cafe with an outdoor seating area on offer at Aqua Sana Sherwood Forest.

We had a quick dip in the open-air pool first, followed by a relax in the Alpine Steam Room (with it’s gorgeous scent) and a quick sauna.  But one of my favourite parts of the afternoon was relaxing in the outdoor hot tub which we followed by a stint on the sun loungers as it was a lovely, warm day.

One thing you mustn’t miss if you go, is the treetop sauna which, as it’s name suggest is raised up in the trees.  There was a lovely view up in the canopy and I watched rabbits and squirrels down below, scampering amongst the trees, whilst I relaxed in the heat.

And then there was the afternoon tea in the Vitale Cafe Bar.  What can I say… it was absolutely delicious!  Delicate sandwiches, rich desserts and a large scone with jam and cream accompanied by a pot of Earl Grey Tea (you can choose your drink) – and all on a sunny terrace surrounded by trees – what could be nicer!

A delicious afternoon tea!

We followed this with 10 minutes detoxifying in the Volcanic Steam Room followed by an invigorating rainforest shower… and a bit more chill-out time on some very comfortable loungers.

We ended the day with another dip in the pool before making use of the complimentary products and hot showers on offer in the changing rooms… by the time we walked out I was so relaxed I almost floated out. I then dozed most of the way home in the car… surely a sign of how relaxing the whole experience had been!

This is a fantastic spa facility with lots of different experiences and a welcoming atmosphere… we’ll definitely be going back again soon!

  1. This place looks like heaven! I visited the Aqua Sana in Whinfell Forest but didn’t get any of the treatments – on my to-do list next time I visit Centerparcs! Fingers crossed they do gluten free cakes that look that good!

    1. It was absolutely lovely! They did ask if we had any dietary requirements when we went to the cafe to book a time – I’m vegetarian and they happily catered for me so I’m sure they must do gluten free too.

    1. Me too – but, you’re right, occasionally it’s nice to have some adult time! It was such a relaxing experience…

    1. Afternoon tea is an English institution – I love going for afternoon tea at a nice hotel/restaurant…
