If money were no object….

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about where I would go if money were no object… but, honestly, I’m struggling to decide!  There are just so many places in the world that I REALLY want to visit…

I suppose a trip to Antarctica would be at the very top of my list… it just looks incredibly beautiful. Sailing through the ice and seeing penguins would be amazing! And, let’s face it, if we don’t change our ways soon, both the Arctic and Antarctic could be altered forever…  I want to see them as they are now – covered in ice!

The Silk Road. I’d never really thought about travelling along the Silk Road until I visited the Destinations Show in London earlier this year (read more about it here: Review: Destinations: The Holiday & Travel Show) and went to a fantastic illustrated talk on the subject.  The whole region looks to be packed full of beautiful buildings and stunning scenery and was instantly added to my list of places to go before I die…

So many destinations, so little time!

I’ve always wanted to visit Argentina – from watching Tango in Buenos Aires to horse-riding through the vast pampas (grasslands) – there is so much to see and do. (And I could also practice my Spanish.) I think Argentina is doable – I just need to get saving up for it (not to mention psyching myself up for a long flight!)!

But if I had to pick just one, it would have to be Antarctica – that would be my absolute dream destination if money were no object! Although I guess if money were no object, I could visit all three places, couldn’t I!?

What about you – where are your dream destinations?  Or have you already been to any of your dream destinations and, if so, didi they live up to your expectations?

Happy travelling!

  1. You know what’s so funny, I actually never considered visiting Antarctica. It’s definitely not the first thing that comes to mind if money were no object. I would definitely spend a few months in Europe and visit country to country. I fell in love with Europe and would love to see more. Europe is extremely expensive though! If money were not an object, I would literally always be traveling. I would also buy myself a nice home to come back to and recharge my batteries in between my travels. Great post Kate ! xxx

    1. Europe is expensive – but if money were no object… Yep, I would travel continuously too – until it got tiring then I’d have a break!
      Glad you enjoyed my post!

  2. Such a tough question. There are just so many great places to visit and I constantly change my mind depending on where I currently am or have just been. Antarctica would be incredible as its so unique but I assume it would also be unbelievably expensive. I’d love to visit the Norwegian Fjords and the Valley of the Kings in Egypt. But that could change tomorrow of course!

    1. The cost is definitely what has stopped me visiting Antarctica to date! I’d love to go to Egypt too… but, like you say, there are so many places that would be amazing…

    1. I’d like to travel through more of Europe too… I’ve done lots (obviously as I live here) but there are still so many countries I haven’t visited.

  3. If I had to pick one vacation, it would have to be a worldwide cruise. I love going on cruises, and it would allow me to see so many places. And I like the idea of only unpacking once and not going from hotel to hotel. We just went on an amazing trip this summer to visit all 5 National Parks in Utah and went to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. It was a gorgeous trip, and we mostly stay in the US right now because my boys are so young. But there are so many places I want to see!

    1. A world cruise would be amazing – you’d see so many countries and sites… You’re so lucky living in the US – you have so many great places to visit!

  4. A friend of mine just got back from a Silk Toad trip. It looked amazing! Definitely on my list. I’m lucky to have been a lot of amazing places. Next on my list is Southeast Asia – Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam. I can’t wait!

    1. I am definitely going to do the Silk Road one day… Southeast Asia would be amazing – hope you have a fantastic trip!

  5. If money wasn’t an issues I’d be headed to Japan, then India, then the United Kingdom. I love your choices! Hopefully we humans can grow up and make the right changes to make things better for Antaartica

    1. Japan and India look amazing! Money is such a bind, isn’t it… there are so many places I want to go and the only thing that’s stopping me is money!

  6. Those all sound like fabulous places to visit! If money was no object, I dream of renting a little cottage in southern England for 2 months then hopping over to do the same in Ireland….

    1. A cottage sounds nice… particularly at the moment when the weather is unusually warm and sunny over here!

  7. At the moment my first destination is New York, then Positano and the next stop would be Australia. Actually, I would love to visit the whole world if money were no object, ha ha!

  8. If money wasn’t an issue I would probably spend all of winter in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. I love playa so much, I can’t even describe it! Absolutely paradise. I would love to travel endlessly if money wasn’t an issue 🙂

    1. Oooh, Playa sounds good… I think I might join you! I would never be at home if money were no object either!
